Chapters 8&9
Perspective of Jem
Mrs. Radley recently died this winter. They say she died of natural causes but me and scout still think Boo Radley had something to do with it. Right after she died it started to snow. Scout though the world was ending but i knew it was snow. I had challenged myself to make a nice snowman since I probably wasn't going to see snow anytime soon. I made it out of mud and snow and some small little branch pieces. Everyone liked my snowman, even Ms. Maudie. I was very proud of my work that day. But just the next day Atticus woke me and Scout up at about 1 in the morning. He seemed calm about it but once i realized something was wrong i noticed that Ms. Maudie's house was on fire. The whole thing had collapsed. But surprisingly she was okay with it. She said she had wanted a smaller house anyway so i guess she can get one now. She stayed with Ms. Stephanie Crawford that night. For Christmas we went out to Finch's Landing for Christmas to spend time with our family. Our uncle Jack came out, Along with Aunt Alexandra, Uncle Jimmy, and out cousin Francis. Scout didn't like Francis one bit and I could already tell that something bad was going to happen between the two of them. I ran outside after the wonderful dinner that we had, Only to find Scout punching Francis. Uncle Jack pulled her off and she got smacked a couple of times. I thought she deserved it but i don't know her side of the story. I think she said something about Francis calling our dad a Nigger- Lover. If Francis did say that, It was rude on his part. I think that Uncle Jack still has alot to learn about children because I think he should have at least listened to Scout's side of the story first. But I guess he will learn eventually.

Chapters 4-7
Perspective of Dill
This summer was very interesting. Me and Jem got closer this summer because we wanted to play games together and Scout didn’t want to play so we just left her out. One day me and Jem decided to write Boo Radley a letter asking him to come out. It also said that we would give him ice cream and help him cheer up. Scout walked in on us as we were talking about the letter and decided she wanted to get in on our plan. We tried to put the letter through a slightly open window that we saw. We were close to getting the letter into the window until we heard the dinner bell. Atticus asked us what we were doing and found out about our plan. We were told not to mess with the Radleys anymore and also not to act like them anymore when we play our games. On the day before I was going to leave Me and Jem decided to try and look through one of the windows at the Radley place. Scout decided to come along once again and we got to the back of the house and saw a shadow coming straight towards Jem. Once the shadow walked away Jem, Me, and Scout ran. Scout tripped and fell but got back up. Jem held up the fence for us to go under and we ran. Once we figured out that Jem wasn’t running with us we ran back and found him stuck to the fence. He ripped his pants off and ran out without them. Once we got back to our house we saw all of our neighbors gathered around the Radley place. We walked over and saw Mr. Nathan Radley standing outside of his house with a shotgun in his hand. Miss Stephanie told us that he shot at a Negro but missed him. That was a fun and exiting summer. I also ran up to Scout and gave her a big kiss before I left because I forgot that we were “Engaged”. I had asked her to marry me earlier in the summer. But overall it was a very scary but fun summer. I can’t wait to go back next summer.

Chapters 1- 3
Perspective of Jem
Being in Maycomb County had been a weird experience so far. I have seen a lot of different things. For example I have to pass the house of the weird Radley family. I have heard many different stories about them. I have even been dared to go on there porch and knock on the wall. I did it and got nobody came out. I have also been watching my sister scout at school. It doesn’t seem like she likes it very much. She was trying to beat up Walter Cunningham but I stopped her and explained to her that he is less fortunate than us so we shouldn’t pick on him. After she did that I invited him to dinner at our house. He pretty much drowned his food in syrup. Then my sister had to run her mouth about the syrup but luckily Calpurnia set her straight. I feel like my sister still has a lot to learn about life and a lot to learn about how to treat people. I also feel like school is not a very good place for scout because it seems like her teacher and her have been having some problems. I have tried to tell scout that you have to listen to your teacher and also not to talk to me at school. I told her not to talk to me at school because school is different than at home, we can play together at home still but at school I don’t want to be seen talking to a 1st grader.
I try to treat the other people in my town with respect because they are my neighbors and they should be treated nicely. I also try to teach my sister how to treat people because she still hasn’t learned that you need to treat people with respect. I also try to teach her about life and about all of the other things she asks me questions about. I am nice to our maid/housekeeper because I know she goes through a lot and has to cook and try to deal with us so I try not to cause trouble. My sister on the other hand is always getting in trouble by her.
